Tsurugi (Sonny Chiba) is a criminal fighter for hire. When a Hong Kong gang tries to get him to kidnap an oil heiress but won’t meet his terms, he goes to war with them to protect her.

After the tension-heavy but action-light atmosphere of The Hit, this was all-out, practically non-stop action! With the displays of violence I thought only existed in The Story of Ricky, like an X-ray view of a punch smashing a guy’s skull, or ripping off a rapist’s genitals and showing them to the camera! Not for nothing was this the first ever movie to be rated X in the US for violence alone.
