Hi, I’m also Terencio on mastodon.social and Sergio on lemmy.world.

The whole licensing thing kinda reminds me of being a kid in Central America during the 80s. We bought cable TV from this company, it was a legit company, had a store in the mall, had ads in the major papers, etc. But it was only one channel and I think they were grabbing satellite signals - they alternated between showing HBO and CNN and Showtime and WGN out of Chicago - whoever was running the place musta been a Cubs fan bc they showed like every Cubs game. I don’t remember the name of the company or the technology, but I think a set-top box was involved. I think this musta been before the US companies realized they could make a lot of money selling in Latin America…
Eureka have apparently done a high quality Bluray I might have to put in my cart.
tbh I don’t think it’s worth owning unless you’re really into TaeKwonDo or something…
An old-school martial arts movie, the kind where the actors are clearly all martial arts experts but the choreography’s cinematic rather than realistic. (the bad guys attack one at a time, the hits are clearly not hitting hard, when someone gets hit they go flying across the room, etc.)
Some really interesting people in this movie:
The version on tubi was dubbed, in that way where everybody’s emoting like they’re reading newsclips or something. You don’t really see this for the acting tho. I was gaming while I watched this and only closely watched during the fight scenes. Anyway, it’s pretty entertaining.
In the dub, they use the term “jap” a lot to refer to the Japanese occupiers, which I think in the US at that period was realistic, but nowadays I believe it’d be considered a slur?
oohhh… you know what I just realized? I usually do PiP in full-screen (bc then the “back arrow” is only 5 secs instead of like 30?!? on the web interface). then if I want to screencap, I pause, go out of full-screen, and if I wait like 3 seconds the UI goes away. (rarely it sticks around then I have to do the tab thing that you say) I have to trim the image then, so maybe my way isn’t the most efficient…
Looks like it. TIL that character’s name is Jim Sting: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086567/fullcredits/
As you can see, I still need to improve my screenshooting skills without triggering Tubi’s interface.
On Firefox you can do the “picture-in-picture” mode and the interface usually goes away when paused. Dunno about chrome.
Looks like in WarGames he played the guy who pulled the pistol (at the beginning of the movie).
oooh, I kinda like the toot flood on Sunday #monsterdons… ofc we’re gonna miss some good stuff, but I feel like I’m constantly busy (in a good way!), with watching, reading, typing, etc.
