I think that’s more to do with the writing quality than anything, really. As you’ve said, there’s Shonen stuff that isn’t just generic Highschool drama stuff, like HxH and JJK as previously mentioned, but I tend to enjoy Seinen more than the average Shonen because the themes and settings are more relatable to me as an adult.
And I’m not going to lie, I kind of have a guilty pleasure for some edgy stuff every now and again.
Yeah, I get you. The whole highschool setting in so many animes/mangas thing is kind of… I can do without it, honestly. Which is why I’m more into Seinen series, less of that kind of stuff.
Good luck, you idiots are going to need it.
Something like that. I got to go back and rewatch that thing to the end, it’s a good show, just waaaay too long and slow paced.
I don’t remember if it has 100 episodes or more, but it would be Legend of the Galactic Heroes, granted one of the reasons I never finished it was just how long it was.
MY LOVE FOR YOU IS LIKE A TRUCK BERSERKEEEEER
Oh wait, wrong Berserk.
I can’t be the only one that thinks a “french fries association” associating itself with obesity is kind of crazy, right? You’d think they would’ve thought this through better…
Gainax still existed? I thought they had closed down years ago.
I mean, if you watched the movie then you’ve experienced the manga minus the filler. It’ll be interesting to see an adaptation truer to the tone of the manga though.
For real though, isekai for me is like an instant pass nowadays. I don’t mind fantasy anime, but the “hurr durr I’m a highschool loser that died and woke up in an MMO world” has to be the most creatively bankrupt genre of modern anime/manga and I really don’t understand the appeal, especially when 90% of them are just variations of generic Dragon Quest tropes. You can make escapist fiction without having to resort to beating a dead horse that has been dead, buried and decomposed for at least a decade now.
And now that I think about it, do these isekai animes and mangas even sell that well to justify making so many of them? There’s no way Japanese audiences aren’t also getting sick of them to at least some extent despite how many of these still keep getting made.
He further criticized modern anime for incorporating game-like elements without logical in-universe explanations.
“Recent anime works will show things like a level-up gauge that appears when characters tap the air, even though there’s no in-setting reason for them to have a personal interface like that. I may just be getting old, but it really makes me wonder: ‘What is going on here?’ It just doesn’t work for me.“
I couldn’t agree more. It just goes to show how little thought and care is put into the setting and world building of these shows, there’s no craft behind most of these, they’re just following trends it feels like.
“Secondly, we do not want pages on works that depict sexual activity” between younger characters.

🤔
Not gonna lie, it’s stuff like this that discourages me from reading currently releasing series, for all you know it could always end up as Berserk, with the end in sight but never closer. Because of this I mostly like reading mangas/comics that are already finished nowadays, I hate cliffhangers.
That description has red flags all over it.
Methinks they are not very good at this promotional thing in the Internet age. Definitely not the Oshi no Ko channel in terms of marketing prowess.
That’s not that uncommon all things considered, PR doesn’t seem to be the forte of most Japanese companies. Too corporate and protective of their assets to a fault.
Weird to say the least… But if people simping for the vtuber means we’ll get the whole thing adapted, then be my guest.
Huh. Kentaro Miura also passed away rather young considering the life expectancy in Japan, I wonder if it’s the stress or something doing these people in. Anyways, my condolences to the family and friends.
I hope so, from my understanding the book series was finished some years ago so there’s no reason not to adapt the whole thing unless they want to be pricks about it.
This is the first anime I’ve been excited for in well over a decade. I hope they finish the story this time.
Huh, I wasn’t even aware of that, I thought it was still going.
