I really liked the first season, a much darker take on the usual cutesy anthropomorphic animal world.
Not a huge fan of season two, felt really rushed. It had some great episodes and I’m definitely checking out the next season but I felt disappointed after the strong first season.
ufotable once again delivering the full movie experience in a TV show episode. The animation and music were absolutely gorgeous.
Season 2 has one of my favorite ending scenes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWR_hTC4A98 (Spoilers for S02E07)
Really a great show.
Is he such a bad writer or what’s the problem?
While I’m glad Boy and Heron won the Oscar for more visibility for anime, I definitely would not have picked it. It wasn’t even my favorite anime of 2023 (that was Suzume) and certainly wasn’t my favorite of the nominees. I would have rather Nimona or Across the Spiderverse won.
I think Across the Spider-Verse was robbed in this case. Outstanding animation through and through.
Maybe it’s just me but a lot of the scenes were ruined with all the anti-epilepsy dimming going on.
Some fights were mostly dimmed so I’m really looking forward to the blu-ray version of this season. Additional scenes are a nice bonus on top.
I liked the first few episodes because it put a spin on the generic fantasy genre. A mage elf exploring what death means after their big adventure is already over and all her team members are dying is a plot point with a lot of possibilities.
They also did fairly well in the first episodes with Frieren being introduced as the introverted detached type, slowly regretting how detached from her party she was back then, not realizing that they will be gone long before her.
Unfortunately it spins into generic fantasy fairly quickly. Still decent but I feel like the main plot point was lost somewhere after the first few episodes and we got too much of “overpowered main character does stuff” already.
Kazuma, Kazuma!
I’m sure Konami is going to figure out how to put microtransactions into their anime.
I assume even he didn’t like the second season of Mushoku Tensei and that’s why it’s not there this year.
Couldn’t get into Eminence in Shadow but only watched 2 episodes so might take another look soon.
I’m surprised there’s so little isekai in a Gigguk list.
Also, sort of sinful that he added Trigun Stampede without mentioning how hard the opening goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxYqXOL5uLk
Do, It Vinland Saga is fantastic. I’m anime only so I only heard they changed the order of some things but no drastic changes.
Apothecary Diaries has also been on my todo list for a while.
But then I reached the chapter where Yuri had dinner with them and I reached a speed bump. I just finished the chapter where he helped Anya study and hit it again. She’d 100% find the character gross.
In a similar notion of strange things in a overall good show: There’s an episode in season 2 that is surprisingly gory considering the show was fairly kid friendly up until that point.
Not that I mind but I definitely wouldn’t recommend the show for kids anymore.
Awesome, really liked the first season.
Well, we’re two now.
I just binged it for the first time recently.
It fell flat for me when Michael left. The Office without Michael sort of feels like Scrubs without J.D. or Turk, it just doesn’t work as well. I still enjoyed the rest but it got noticeable weaker.
Do the constant camera panning and characters looking angry at each other add anything of value to you?
I can’t believe they wasted 7 episodes doing the same trope as in season 1 again.
I really hope there is a turning point coming up because this season has been severely lacking so far.
Obligatory “Fuck Rachel”. At least Khun is on to her.
