This chapter’s beginning was beautiful but I don’t like where this is going now :/

Okay… caught up now, so… yeah.

First, I’m presuming it’s ending soon. And as far as that goes, I’m actually sort of hoping it’s ending soon, since at this point there have been so many “this is ending soon” flags that if it doesn’t actually end, that’s going to feel like all of these last chapters have just been cheap theatrics and deception. And I expect better of this mangaka, Kotoyama.

So I’m assuming it’s ending soon, and I’m okay with that.

It’s really, assuming that it’s ending, pretty much the dream manga ending. All the other loose ends are tied together, all of the people have come to terms with whatever was troubling them, all of the goodbyes that needed to be said have been said - it’s now wrapped all the way back around to where it all started, with just Nazuna and Kou.

And I expect it’s going to all work out satisfyingly. That’s a thing I’ve learned reading this - I don’t know how Kotoyama is going to resolve things, but I’m confident that it will make sense, and be appropriate, and I’ll be at least satisfied, likely impressed and possibly even amazed.

The key, I think, is that neither one of them are normal. The drama and doubt and fear and everything comes from the apparent rules regarding vampires and humans, but those rules almost certainly don’t apply to them, because they’re both already exceptions to the rules - the fact that they exist at all is already exceptional, so what happens beyond that is anyone’s guess.

And I’m looking forward to finding out.

I haven’t read anything else from Kotoyama, but I should have realised by the similarity in look from Dagashi kashi MC’s look and Nazuna.

At this point, the story showed us the stakes with Mahiru/Kiku arc, and it’s up to the mangaka to choose whether the last MC pair quirks are above the rules or not.

I’m looking forward to it too!

At the moment, I can’t say.

I actually discovered this right before I posted that. I saw this chapter among the latest updates and read it and though I had no idea what was going on, I thought it looked interesting, so I went back to the beginning and read a few chapters and was very impressed by them, so I went ahead and posted it.

Now I’m in the middle of catching up on it, and I’m currently on chapter 38. So I’ve got another 160 or so chapters to go before I get back around to this one. :)

          Pshew…

Just hit chapter 104, and I think I’m done for the day. I just finished the Nazuna and senpai/detective arc, and now it’s shifting over to Kiku and the detective’s father and Mahiru and all of that, and I know if I read too far into that, I won’t be able to stop.

This is a great series, which is especially surprising since it combines so many cliches. But they each have a fresh spin, and they interrelate in interesting ways. And both the writing and the art are top notch.

          A nice ride indeed…

I didn’t expect to enjoy the story as much as I do now.

I saw the first episode of the anime adaptation (some months ago ?) and was drawn by the night settings, which I thought would be a nice relaxing read before going to bed. But I never imagined that what looked like a light slice-of-life with a touch of vampire romcom to go this way.

It was a pleasant surprise and now I’m hooked :)
