    I am hopeful that this OWEL silly villain is basically just serving the role of being a bad guy to help bring the party together. I think the other Towa androids are much more compelling antagonists going forward.

    These two series are not directly compatible, but I can’t help but shake the feeling that this series has the potential to end up like Metallic Rouge. That was a show that started with a ton of potential and looked gorgeous but really went off the rails as the season went. Fingers crossed that this one will keep it together.

      I’m hoping this is going to end up more like Trigun—a series that also started out with mostly silly caricature villains and ended up getting quite serious by the end. Right now it’s hard to tell whether it’s going to pull itself together or flop, and since it’s an original there’s no source material we can check for future plot beats. It doesn’t seem to be trying to be as convoluted as Metallic Rouge was, and it’s already flashed its equivalent of Legato Bluesummers, both of which give me some hope for it.

      If you are going to have a character this cartoony, at least they got the right voice actor to portray them. At some point Takehito Koyasu should just do a project where he just voices every character.

        Dude was everywhere during the late 1990s and is still everywhere, althought I can’t remember the last time I heard him in a leading role rather than a villain or other secondary part. Still, this is nothing on the time that he voiced a villainous starfish named Pista.

    Still can’t quite decide how I feel about this one. I feel like the tone is all over the place. We have a fascist regime that use slavery, information control, and civilian murder but all their leaders are just wacky comic relief? I guess it is trying to keep the tone a bit lighter, but I feel like it undermines the serious shit that is happening. At least the other androids seem like interesting and credible threats. I hope we see more of that side of OWEL instead going forward.
