This series feels very Quints-coded. Though, as conceited as he might be, the MC is actually a lot of fun. I will take an MC that knows he is hot shit over a bland, boring MC any day. He isn’t afraid to use the power of money to pursue his goals and he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Also, it turns out he has a healthy gut! @[email protected]

While I agree in general, I still found this MC to be unlikable. Where are the good rom-com MC’s of seasons past? Where are the Ryūjis (toradora), Houtarous(Hyouka), Yuutas (Chu2Koi), Hachimans (oregairu), etc?

I’ve been reading this manga for a while and while I don’t think I’ll be watching this adaptation I can definitely say the source is good. While the girls are definitely great it’s Arisu that carries the show, you can’t really have a harem manga without the protagonist being interesting (or rather, you can but it leads to an incredibly bland/boring self-insert type stories). He’s stuck up, slightly unhinged and supremely confident but also has an incredibly strong drive and deeply cares about the things he’s committed to. Also, the fact that the people around him call him out on his ridiculousness instead of just accepting it. I’ll take an MC that’s unlikable but with redeeming qualities that you grow endeared towards over a bland cardboard cut-out any day.
