That seemed a bit frantic - like they had a few too many things they were trying to cram into a single episode - but it was still beautiful and it was all important, so I guess that’s the way it goes. And I’ll rewatch the entire series soon (and undoubtedly more than once) and see then how well it all flows - it’s possible that watched straight through, the pacing has its own meaning.
I need to let this settle a bit - rewatch it and just sort of wait and see. It’s definitely near the top of my all-time favorite list and it might just be at the top. In any event, it was very, very good from start to finish, and my life has been enriched by experiencing it.
Adapting the whole story in 13 episodes was out of the question, so they had to find a good place where to stop. Hope they get a season 2 so they can complete it.
Thanks for the clarification. That was my assumption, but I didn’t know.
I hadn’t really stopped to think about it until just now, but with pretty much any other series, I probably would’ve at least browsed the manga fairly early on, just to get an idea of how the adaptation compares. But with this, it’s not even that I chose not to - I never even considered the possibility. This has been such a rewarding watch that I’ve been entirely focused on it, and I just want more.
That said, I expect I’ll read the manga somewhere along the way, but only after watching the adaptation all the way through.
