The Shibuya arc was more jarring than bad. The culling arc is just stupid. Lots of random nobodies popping out of the woodwork with no leadup and stomping all over the main characters. It felt completely undeserved.

It falls into this very general “cuckold fetish” that some anime and manga have, and for the record that’s my temporary name for it. It’s not limited to NTR, but rather that it’s a fascination of some Japanese storytellers to build up a protagonist only to undeservedly tear them down by nobodies. Nowadays, whenever I get a whiff of that I’ll drop a series because I know it just gets worse feom there

This sums up pretty much every issue with all of the Evangelion entries. Anno sucks as a writer and half of the lore in the rebuilds were ripped from fan theories from NGE

Don’t get me wrong, I like that the creators have switched to a more reasonable schedule. It just doesn’t make the wait much better

It’s also purely fiction. It’s fine to not like it, but there’s no need to get so confrontational. I’m willing to bet the vast majority of fans merely tolerate it rather than support or ask for more.

Holy shit, I had completely forgotten about watching this as a kid until this post

One thing I can’t get over is that there’s subtle elements to the animation and art style that tells me that this anime is only going to get 1 season to serve as an ad for the ln/manga.

I read the manga and love it, but it really doesn’t feel like the studio has their heart in it. Not that the studio is doing a bad job, it’s adequate, but it’s not trying to be better than the source material

While I’m not interested in the anime, this is good news. I haven’t heard of simuldubs happening since Covid

That’s pretty much been my opinion of this entire story arc. It’s felt like it’s dragging on way more than season 1

After the boring disasters of seasons 2 & 3 and the lazy cliché of Raphtalia actually being a princess this whole time, this show is dead to me. I dont get why anyone has bothered to continue giving this series the time of day, even the light novel readers.
