OP1 from Ranma 1/2 is a fun listen.
And every Creepy Nuts song in Call of the Night is an absolute banger.

Intro to Cowboy Bebop
Love this, but I personally have The Real Folk Blues as my favorite Cowboy Bebop song.
I like too much of Cowboy Bebop’s soundtrack to pick a favorite. It’s all incredible.
I’m feeling Space Lion right now.
That is a beautiful song.
And a bunch of Ado songs from the One Piece movie. I don’t watch One Piece but the Ado songs are amazing.
I don’t know about “best,” but my favorite is Gekkou Survive by Franchouchou from Zombieland Saga Revenge.
And definitely not “best” but one I just like - Sanki Tousen by Manias from Akiba’s Trip: The Animation.
And potentially actually the best - the one to which so many others have aspired in later years - God Knows by ENOZ from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.

Hellsing Ultimate is the better adaption of the manga, but Yasushi Ishii made something that transcends even that with these songs
OPs and EDs? It’s hard to choose, there are so many good ones.
Live songs? Yuru Yuri live events are peak seiyuu aidoru especially the first season OP and ED 😤
Insert songs? I really don’t know off the top of my head!
Songs sung by characters? THAT one from ARIA (not spoiling it). And the songs from K-ON! (also written by them). I also liked the graduation song from Non Non Biyori.
BGM? ARIA and Hidamiri Sketch have some OST that have vocals and are thus songs technically. Most of them don’t have lyrics but if we count it then I pick those.
Character songs? Probably more Yuru Yuri songs especially the live versions. Lucky Star has great ones especially those where they sing karaoke together.
Under songs by characters i can think of one. When the Tachikoma sacrifice themselves bringing down the satellite that held their AI backups in SAC Individual Eleven. Wasn’t particularly beautiful but was touching.
If you like Evangelion and jazz, I recommed The World! Evangelion Jazz Night Tokyo 3 Jazz Club and EVANGELION-VOX album.
God Knows from haruhi, maybe motteke sailor fuku from lucky star too. Oh and also Duvet from serial experiments lain.
In the context of the story arc, Hero Too from My Hero Academia. Not an objectively amazing song, but I like the various tie ins from the performance in the story. Turns out it was sung by Chrissy Costanza of Against the Current. I also like their 2016 album In Our Bones.
