I’ve read a little bit of the manga and I think this is exactly the type of series where KyoAni excels with.

Wow, that is excellent news. I am really glad that Jump stuck behind this series after it had to go on a super long hiatus almost immediately after debuting due to the author’s health.

My darling manga that could! After years of hiatus and almost giving up hope of ever seeing it again, not only did we get an unexpected return but now it even gets an anime adaptation - by KyotoAni no less!

    Aww yess.

I was certain it would get adapted, but I would have been unsatisfied with a boring 1:1 adaptation.

    But KyoAni knows their moe.

This has been in my list to read, but now I will just wait for KyoAni anime.

This was the second manga (after obligatory Yotsubato) I read in Japanese as I started learning, some of the slang was a bit tricky but it was a fun read. Liked it enough that I then went back to read it in English again. So this one’s got a solid place in my heart, very excited to see this adaptation.

Depending on the story you can miss a lot of context if you read only with a dictionary, I like to read both Japanese and English side by side.

I had a page-by-page vocab list from Wanikani, but the goal is to use as little assistance as possible, only check words I don’t know. If I read a translation side-by-side, I’m really just reading the translation rather than understanding the original Japanese.

The idea is to read the Japanese first, try to understand as much as possible and then read again in English as if validating if everything is clear. Just knowing the words isn’t necessary means you know the meaning of the sentence. Well depending on your level this can be more work than it’s worth but I’d say it’s good for a few times as you start to read.

Is this a cute slice of life or something with action? Since it is published in jump. I can’t quite tell from reading about it without spoiling myself. Anilist has Iyashikei as a tag?

It’s cute slice of life with no action.

The MC just happens to be half-dragon and the series is about dealing with each of her over-the-top superpowers as they manifest, and also social stuff.

I’ve been really appreciating the much more mature and serious tone the series takes with social drama, and the dragon stuff is instead what is used to keep the series fun and light-hearted.

Thanks, I think I’ll check it out when it comes. Kind of sounds like a more serious Ika Musume. Hopefully not too serious.

I happened to read this recently. It’s mostly slice of life with a little “what weird things can my body do now that I’m part dragon?” I wouldn’t say there’s any action from what I’ve seen.

It’s kind of funny though, I don’t read much manga, but this is the second time in a row where I happened to read something only to find out Kyoani was going to adapt it not long after. Last one was CITY.

So far it’s mostly been slice-of-life, but recent chapters seem to be hinting that it’s meant to build up to a bigger conflict.

Hmm, I’ve been reading the manga since it started and I’m not super confident in its quality. But I am pretty confident about Kyoani. I wonder who will direct it…

The manga is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s great and tbh I’m not sure animation will elevate this enough for it to be worth my time to experience the story again.

Usually KyoAni does their own thing with any IP they touch, so I would have high hopes.

It’s not that I think they’ll do a bad job. Quite the opposite! It’s more that even if they do a great job I don’t feel like that would provide an experience sufficiently different from the manga to justify my time when there’s so much great stuff constantly coming out these days.

Ah, ok. I felt like the last couple of chapters were just kinda bad, so I feel like a KyoAni touch could do a lot. But if you feel like the manga is overall ok, I can see why you’d feel like KyoAni won’t massively improve anything/bring anything new.
